Literature Text

As the sun rose over the ridge of a rocky hill, two bare feet trudged through knee-high grass wearily, every so often tripping over the floor. The feet were those of a female, tired from many hours of walking through the night. Her olive skin, light brown hair and slender build marked her out to be a golden elf, and she made no attempts to hide it. She wore a dark green dress, covered in leaf and vine patterns, with ripped off sleeves, the skirt section ripped short just below the knee. The dress was quite dusty and battered, but it was obviously expensive, as though it were tailor made for an important person.
The elf stopped, her legs almost giving way beneath her. Pale grey eyes scanned the surroundings quickly, before she set her sites on a large flat rock, only twenty paces to her left. She grinned to herself, rather relieved, stumbling towards it and almost falling over in the process. She sat, panting heavily, for a few seconds, before wiping the forehead with the back of a slightly dirty hand. She looked back to the horizon from where she'd headed, her trail snaking off into the distance.
"Perfect," she muttered to herself angrily, "Anyone could follow that trail." Crossing her legs and placing her hands on her knees, she sat in silence, thankful for the rest. The wind blew over the grass gently, carressing the elf's face as it did so. She smiled, before her ears pricked at the sound of shuffling. She spun around to see a male elf bent over and breathing heavily.
"Two days!" she screamed, becoming suddenly furious, "Two days ago you left me and assured me you'd catch up!" She grabbed a handful of grass and threw it at the exhausted elf, the clump falling to pieces as it hit his shoulder softly. "I swear Kallan, one day I'll really lose my temper with you!" She turned back around and crossed her arms, glaring at the horizon with a lethal amount of venom in her gaze.
Kallan was strikingly different to the female. His hair was a pale shade of blonde, and his eyes bright blue. His skin was shockingly pale, and was over a head taller than the female elf. He was a dorrosas elf, from the southern-most elven country. He wore a white linen shirt, with long sleeves and a string drawn V-shaped collar. He also wore rough looking black trousers and heavily scarred brown leather boots. His face was quite thin and handsome, and was currently wearing a cheeky, if somewhat charming grin.
"Aria," he said cheerfully, "You have lost your temper with me every time we have met without fail," He stood up straight, poking himself in the ribs with an index finger in a half hearted attempt to rid himself of stitch. He glanced backwards before smiling to himself, "I mived through your trail, copied it step for step. As far as anyone following me will know, I'm travelling alone." He walked through the remaining footprints left by Aria, sitting behind her on the rock with his back to hers, his knees brought up to his chin and his arms wrapped around them.
The first part of the first chapter of my Novel, the Golden Grin. If you like it then tell me to get my arse in gear and carry on writing it.
